The Alphabet Corporation announced an unprecedented investment plan: an investment of approximately $15 billion (approximately RMB 10.7 billion) over the next five years to build an AI data centre and infrastructure hub of 1 JW capacity in Andhra Pradesh, South India.

Google ‘ s $15 billion investment plan will be implemented in phases between 2026 and 2030, with a total capacity of 1 GW, equivalent to 10 nuclear power plants. The first phase will focus on the construction of the AI data centre in Andhra Pradesh, equipped with an advanced liquid cold GPU cluster and sustainable energy system, to support Google Gemini 2.5 model training and enterprise-level AI applications. This initiative will create thousands of high-value jobs on the ground and stimulate technological ecological linkages between China and the United States. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian states: “India has the world’s leading AI talent and innovation dynamic, an investment that will bring the full AI technology warehouse of Google, including Gemini models and cloud services, to help Indian firms accelerate the digital transformation.”

Google’s largest investment in India: Previously, the company had invested $2 billion in the construction of cloud data centres in Bangalore and Mumbai, but the “super hub” of this Focus AI will cover the whole of South India. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, praised the initiative as “the milestone of the Indian AI Revolution”. India, the largest beneficiary of the global AI boom, exported its engineers to the Global Science and Technology Corporation, with initial AI financing exceeding $10 billion in 2025. Google’s $15 billion bets are not unique: Microsoft has committed $3 billion to India’s AI cloud infrastructure, Amazon has invested $5 billion to build a data centre and Meta has established an AI research laboratory in Delhi.

This investment is expected to generate 20,000 direct jobs and to radiation the surrounding manufacturing industry worth $10 billion. In the case of Google Clouds, this means that the share of India’s revenues rose from 10 to 20 per cent and that the Gemini model’s indigenous training data will increase the accuracy rate by 15 per cent. Start-up enterprises such as Ola Electric and Paytm will receive low-cost AI services to accelerate electric cars and pay innovation.
