The 4X Strategic History Simulation, developed by Firaxis Gomes, announced today (28) that it will test “one of the most vocal functions of players”: The same civilization can be operated from the beginning to the end of the game, which is currently being developed in-house and is expected to open up some community players to experience in the coming months.
Civilization 7 has been in place since February 11 this year, changing the series of games with the Ages System, dividing the process of social upgrading into three historical phases, requiring a new choice of civilization at each time of transition.
The development team did so in order to enhance the sense of history and playfulness, but it also left many old players unadapted and distasteful. After all, the chord of Civilization runs from ancient times to modern times, building on the civilization of a people, and making new changes is one of the many reasons why Civilization 7 Steam is “demeaning”.
Firaxis heard the player. Officially, the model of “one civilization that can run through all times and continue to operate ” is being tested to allow players to choose the civilization of any era and to lead it through human history.
The single-civilization process mechanism, which will function in conjunction with the continuation model previously introduced, will make war and diplomatic relations non-replaceable by time.
However, the development team stressed that everything was still in the initial stages of testing, “imagining that there is a “possible change” stamp on all content.” Firaxis is expected to recruit test members from the Discord community, and the information on the application will be updated next week.
Ocean theme collection, November 4th, free of charge.
In addition to major system changes, Civilization 7 will be launched on 4 November with an updated version 1.3.0 which will be available free of charge for all player time in two stages for the content collection of the ocean theme “Tides of Power”.
The power of the tide will be released in two stages:
-
Phase I (4 November): New pirate king Edward Teach and two new civilizations: the Kingdom of Tonga and the “Piracy Republic”.
-
Phase II (launched in December): The new leader Sayyida al Hurra and two new civilizations: the Ottoman Empire and Iceland will be added.

With version 1.3.0, Civilization 7 will also bring about a number of sea war updates:
-
A completely new building port (Harbor): as an all-civilization building of a water warehouse, with productivity and fisheries incentives, has become a new production site for all naval units.
-
The new unit, Privateer: The light naval unit, which was unlocked during the exploration era, has the capability to quickly sail and plunder the enemy’s trade routes, even without a formal declaration of war, against non-alliance civilizations.
-
Additional resources and topography: including marine resources crabs, turtles, conch and asphalting of land resources, as well as new topography such as Atolll and Lotus, bring additional changes to strategic maps.
In addition, fighting at sea has been re-established and, for the first time, remote attack units have been introduced. The Navy is divided into two categories:
-
Light Units: with high mobility and vision to carry out a round-up attack.
-
Heavy units (Heavy Uniteds): Slow but powerful remote firepower, making naval warfare tactics more tiered.
In an official announcement, producer Ed mentioned that Firaxis would launch the new project “Firaxis Feature Workshop”, inviting a small group of social players to first experience and provide feedback on functions that are still being developed.
“We want to involve players in the evolution of the game. The goal in the coming months is to ensure that Civilization 7 strikes a balance between tradition and innovation”.
