The White House officially opened the TikTok official account this Tuesday, with the first video match: “We’re back in America! The 27-second short video received about 4,500 attention an hour after its release, while Trump’s own TikTok account, with up to 15.1 million fans, was last updated on November 5, 2024, United States General Election Day.

While the United States Government has been pressuring it to sell TikTok for its business in the United States, Trump seems to have a special interest in the application, believing that it helped him defeat his Democratic opponent Harris in the 2024 presidential election, while gaining the support of young voters. The White House Press Secretary, Carolyn Levitte, declared: “The Trump Government is committed to communicating the President’s historic achievements for the American people through as many audiences and platforms as possible.”
TikTok’s ban, which was scheduled to come into effect before January 20th, has been suspended by Trump. – Its 2024 campaign is heavily dependent on social media and publicly expresses its preference for TikTok. TikTok, which has 170 million users in the United States, has a parent company whose byte beat in April is known to be negotiating solutions with the United States Government.

In mid-June, Trump, for the third time, extended the sale of TikTok by 90 days to mid-September, requiring it to look for non-China buyers or face a total ban. The ban was introduced by Trump in 2020 and initially entered into force on 19 January 2025.
Trump changed his position after joining TikTok during last year’s election campaign, accumulating nearly 15 million fans and hosting TikTok CEO at the Lake Park, Florida. Despite long-standing support for a ban or stripping, TikTok vowed to defend this platform, with 2 billion users around the globe, after being convinced that it would win the young votes.

Trump prefers the social platform Truth Social (10.6 million fans) to its X (formerly Twitter) account number 108.5 million. The official White House accounts X and Instagram have 2.4 million and 9.3 million followers, respectively.
